09/30/2006 McCook Speedway
What a weekend we had at McCook Speedway in McCook Nebraska! Running with the best drivers has been an awesome experience!
Starting in 4th position in his heat Dominic moved up to the front of the pack and won his heat race which put him into the pole
dash where he started in 3rd position and won! He was then able to start on the
pole in the A-Main.
Here is what Chris Martinez of BST Promotions had to say about the race:
Twenty-five cars started the BST Modified A Feature, the most cars that have
ever started a feature on the small 3/8-mile track. Dominic Ursetta of Arvada,
Colo., was on the pole as a result of passing David Murray, Jr. on the last lap
of the pole dash. Murray started along the side of him for the twenty-five lap
event after amassing the most passing points in the heat races. Ursetta took off
with the lead on the opening lap, but Murray stayed close and crossed the
scoring line on lap two first. On that lap, the first of five caution periods
occurred after Brice Riley of Indianola was turned sideways in front of a pack
of cars. A pileup ensued, but no one was hurt.
Murray and Ursetta stayed at the front of the field, and joined by many
different faces near the front. Eddie Belec, Jr. of Arvada, Colo., joined his
two fellow heat race winners up front for a while, but lost contact with them
near the end of the event. Jay Schilling of McCook and Bill Brack of Mead,
Colo., came from eleventh and fifteenth, respectively, to join the fun at the
front. Brack was wowing everyone on the high line while Schilling was hugging
the bottom. A debris caution with five laps to go bunched the field one more
time. When the green came out, Murray scooted away en route to the $1,000.00
payday.
Ursetta was left to battle the others, and was successful in finishing in second
place.
