Dominc Ursetta & Eddie BelecBelec/Ursetta Season Recap

When the 2007 season started there was one thing for certain for the #6u and #3b Arvada Excavating Modifieds at I-76 Speedway, they were coming with a good old fashioned double barreled blast for the competition. Before the
I-76 season was under way the team suffered a major set back with the loss of a very dear loved one, Mom and Grandma Ursetta. From that point on Dominic and Eddie knew one of them had to get in the winners circle and win one for Grandma and they delivered in grand fashion.

Let’s take a look at the Dream Teams season, week by week. Sunday, April 29th. Now it is real and a bad week could break the season even this early. The #6u of Dominic Ursetta comes in 4th in the feature and #3b Eddie Belec comes home in 8th. All and all a great run for the two new drivers from Arvada and Lakewood. Night number 2 of the young season surrenders a 2nd place to Eddie in the #3b, and a 4th place to Dom’s #6u. Night number three, May 12th was again a good night for the duo with the #6u loading up as the 5th place finisher and Eddie’s #3b would garner a respectable 7th.

May 19th or night number 4 again was good to the new super shoes with Dom bring home the #6u in 4th and Eddie taking the #3b to a solid 8th place. At this point in the season Eddie Belec is the point’s leader with Dominic in 6th just 44 points behind his teammate. June 16th finally saw one of the drivers finish out of the top 10 as Eddie went home with a disappointing 14th place finish while Dominic was able to salvage a 8th place finish in a very rough feature event. June 23rd could have spelled doom to almost any other team shooting for the top prize. Dom finished 21st and Eddie finished 22nd with a long ride home back to the Denver metro area knowing that they would need to both step up their game to take the top prize at the Fort Morgan Colorado ¼ mile.

June 30th could have been a turning point for the #6u in the points because he decided to run the BST show in Rawlins Wyoming where he placed pretty well and when he made his way back to the ¼ mile in Ft. Morgan he was ready to settle back in with what he learned on the road. Eddie Jr. took the USA Performance Engines #3b to a nice 5th place finish. On to July 7th. Dom wheeled his ride to a 7th place finish while Eddie Jr. had a finish he would rather forget coming home in 18th. At this point in the season Dominic is 7th in points and Eddie is leading the points just 7 points ahead of 2nd place.

July 14th had Eddie Belec Jr. coming home in 21st and the #6u of Dominic Ursetta was racing out of town. July 21st saw both cars in the top 15 with Eddie Jr. coming in 8th and Dom coming out with 15th. July 28th would mark the biggest event to date for the Arvada Excavating drivers; it was the I-76 Speedway Modified Challenge with 65+ cars from 7 states going for 25 spots in the feature. When the final checkered flags flew Dominic placed 21st and Eddie placed 10th. Just making the Challenge was a win for drivers that were only in their 2nd full year of racing.

August 4th was another good night for the Dream Team with Dominic coming home in 2nd while Eddie rounded out the top 10. August 11th had the two lifelong friends crossing the line nose to tail in 8th and 9th. August 18th had Eddie coming home in 4th place while Dominic was racing out of town. August 25th was a night of clarity for the competition, Eddie was not going to loose his points lead easy as he came across the line in 5th while Dom placed 22nd.

On to September 1st where the tides would change for the #6u as he took the 50 lap main event after a few frustrating weeks, Eddie rounded out the top 5. September 8th was another battle for the #6u as he took his 2nd feature in a row while Eddie rounded out the top 10. September 15th was the night the whole team was waiting for…Championship night with Eddie securing the 2007 Championship after a nice 3rd place run in the feature. Dominic came across the line in 8th and soon celebrated with his crew, family and friends.

With the season having come to a close the teams ran a few out of town shows with some highs and some lows but one thing for sure is this. The guys from Arvada Excavating have set the tone for the 2008 season at I-76. All of the above would never have been possible with out the great support of the Arvada Excavating crew and the team’s great sponsors.
