Dominic Ursetta 18th Career WIN!

Ursetta scores huge opening night win at
2009 Flatlander!

The two-day 2009 Flatlander Special in Goodland, Kansas brought close to eighty cars in a record breaking car count in recent years. Dominic Ursetta had won three straight races coming into this one and the momentum just kept flowing. Having teammate and owner of Taylor Motorsports Jeff Taylor in for the weekend was huge for the team and his knowledge, advice and hands on help would be second to none for them also. After starting on the pole of his heat race Dom jumped out to a huge lead and only having to protect that lead from one restart, he pulled back away and scored the win. With only the winner advancing to the feature event through the heat races, there was no room for error.

Starting on the outside of the front row for the main event would be all Ursetta needed to continue his winning ways. Coming out of turn two he had taken the lead from pole sitter Alan Sharpensteen and began to pull away. Few cautions fell during the twenty five lap feature but after every restart he would pull away to a straightaway advantage and late in the race while getting into lapped traffic a final caution fell bunching the field up for one last time. With focus and determination clearly imbedded in him, Dom pulled away yet again and took the checkered flag with a comfortable distance between him and eventual runner up Ricky Alvarado. The win was his fourteenth of 2009 and one of his most memorable ones to date.
