Dom took the checkered flag at I-76 Speedway's
2009 B.S.T. / Larry Shaw modified series Main Event.
The huge win making it three in a row at
I-76 and four wins in the last four weeks of racing!
Drawing the pole position for the heat race made for another
great night for the 6u Taylor Modified. Leading all eight laps and blowing the
field away, Dominic put himself in the re-draw for the feature and made the most
of it by drawing the number two position.
The feature got under way and it didn't even take a half a
lap for Ursetta to grab the lead coming out of turn two. As he started to pull
away the cautions started falling and a total of seven flew throughout
the twenty lap race. These cautions put the 6u to the test as drivers like Eric
Burwick, Wayne Houston and Will Brack all tried their hand at getting the lead
but none of them could prevail.
Dom's Teammate 3b Eddie showed what he was made of by
starting in the 16th position and finishing 4th in 20 laps... Impressive!

DOMINIC DOMINATES MODIFIEDS AT I-76
Fort Morgan, Colorado – June 6, 2009. Finally after two
consecutive rain-outs, I-76 Speedway was able to get a full night of races off,
and it turned out to be one of the most incredible action-packed nights of
racing ever at I-76.
It all started out when 40 Modifieds showed up to vie for 22 spots in the
coveted Main Event. There were five Heat Races run and two B-Mains with as much
excitement in them as the succeeding Main.
In the third Heat, three drivers fighting for the three top transfer positions
in the Main, tried to get their cars into a two-slot space and Stan Dayley of
Fort Morgan, was the odd man out flipping his car on its lid, with the other two
cars crashing into him. Dayley crawled out of the car unhurt and since the
racing accident happened as they passed the checkered flag, he was in the top
three positions and went on to race the Main Event.
There were multiple other yellow flag crashes, spin-outs, and even a blown
engine before the Heats were finished. Then the two B-Mains were completed, and
the full field of Colorado’s best Modified drivers entered the track for extreme
competition in the Main Event.
Dominic Ursetta of Arvada, quickly took the lead from outside pole position when
the green flag was waved, and even with seven yellow flags marring the race, he
held a wide lead dominating the entire race. This made Ursetta’s third
back-to-back-to-back win at I-76, something few drivers have achieved. Ursetta
celebrated his gigantic win with lots of friends and family in front of an
approving crowd, and left the track with another trophy and a heightened
challenge for the other drivers. Ursetta was followed to the finish by Will
Brack of Mead, who took second, and Jeremy Frenier of Fort Morgan, who came from
the seventh row back to finish third.
