Challenge Cup Night

Difficult Finish but an exciting year!

We have had some bumps and bruises over the season. The last race didn't go as well as hoped. Unfortunately the car leaves on the wrecker with damage to the right front. This season our team gained experience, earned respect from our competitors, put on a great show for our fans and spotlighted our Sponsors positively. Being able to compete with the competition at CNS has been a goal that Dominic has had since he was young. His accomplishments this year include winning his first Late Model Heat Race, 100 lap Late Model Main Event with a car he has never driven before he starts 26th finishes 15th, wins his first Late Model Fast Dash, sets quick time and finishes 3rd as a guest driver in the Grand American Modified Division. We would like to thank the folks at Colorado National Speedway for welcoming our team and we will see you next year!

Great American Modified Dom sets Quick Time! Finishes 3rd!

Making a guest appearance in the #22 Grand American Modified Owned by Mike Costagno Dominic shows his talent by setting quick time in a car he hasn't driven before, he goes on to start 6th in the Main Event and tops the night off with an impressive 3rd place finish. Here is what competitor GAM Driver #28 Jeff Hunter has to say about the race: What a shoe you are!!! Set Quick Time in a car with hardly any laps. And run up front all night. Great Job! And your family is a class act. The asphalt family is finding out what we dirt people have known for years!!! YOU CAN DRIVE ANYTHING!!!

With the season winding down and one 100 lap race to go our sights are set on a great finish on the 29th. Our fans are the greatest Thanks for all your kind words!

Bad luck for the 6 Team again

Looking forward to our next race!

After a long couple of weeks getting our car ready we were excited to get back on the track. Thanks to our pit crew for the long hard hours and Jerry and Darren Robertson of Robertson Racing. The car did good in practice and after a few tweaks we made it on the pole in the dash, bad call on the restart sent us to the back. Starting 18th in the 100 lap main we made it to 10th position at lap 58 when trouble in turn 2 caused the caution flag to come out... #39 Jack Nugent on the outside hit the wall hit us and with no where to go we were unable to finish the race. Jack apologized. We are looking forward to the next race 9/8 40 laps.

Bad luck for the 6 Team

Next Race: 9/2 100 laps

Unfortunately Saturday 8/11 Dominic hit debris on the track blew his front right tire had know where to go and hit the wall. Damage to the car was to great to repair in order to make it to the next race on the 18th. Bruce Yackey offered his second car for the race on the 18th so that Dominic could continue racing. We would like to thank Bruce and his crew for their generous offer! Chris Eggleston and his crew also offered their car to Dom. It just goes to show you the community we race with... Thanks to all! Looking forward to getting back on the track.

Starting in 10th position when the green flag flew the #6 was as smooth as always making his way up the pack passing lapped cars with an impressive 6th place finish in a well driven clean race with no cautions. Congratulations to all the drivers.

Hajek Chevrolet Night

40 lap Feature Event

We lined up on the front row for the 40 lap main event, started with a great run on the outside and were able to grab the lead for 10 laps by 5 spots from the start. Lap 11 brought out the yellow flag that tightened up the field. After the second yellow flag the best battle on the track was for 3rd 4th and 5th between Dom and 2 other cars he finished 4th in a well driven race. It was exciting for all the fans as they watched the #6 race on the high side which is not easily done especially for a rookie!

Dominic wins his first heat race!

Rockys Autos 40 lap Feature Event

After winning his first heat race on the asphalt it seems as though the Team has found the right setup. With Dominic starting in 12th position in the Main Event the car was running in top form. With 9 laps to go the hard charging #6 moved up on 4th position loses and front right tire. He was able to get the car up high as not to cause an accident in the pack. As much of a downer that it was everyone was very pleased with his exceptional performance. Flats happen...

Famous Daves Barbecue

100 Lap Feature Event

After losing a lifter in the qualifying effort the night was finished for the #6 car, While tearing down the engine at the trailer Dom was approached by 2 teams to see if they could help, Tony Finley owner of the #77 car driven by Dave Finley offered to send someone back to his home to pick up his third car and #08 Jim Egli owner Je-co Motorsports offered up his second car which was at the track thus giving Dominic the opportunity to continue to race the 100 lap feature. The Dominic Ursetta Racing Team and their sponsors along with Dominic personally would like to thank car owners Tony Finley and Jim Egli for showing their generosity to a competitor.

Driving the Egli #08 car starting at the back of the pack in 29th position Dominic finished in a respectable 15th place.

Dominic’s second rookie start he breaks into the top 10.

Starting in 19th position which is required by NASCAR in his second only rookie Main Event Dominic avoids 2 collisions during restarts and would then find himself in the center of a pile up with nowhere to go. With some front end damage he completed the Main moving up 9 positions to finish 10th in a well driven race. Both team and sponsors were very impressed and pleased with his performance.
